About the POSH Guide

to the POSH Guide, a site devoted to bringing you a comprehensive and easy to use guide to the best of Southeast Asia. The site features articles of useful information and suggestions about what to see as well as links to other web sites that we've found can be the most useful for visitors to Asia.

The POSH Guide's author is Michael Holland, who has lived and worked in Thailand for more than a dozen years. You can keep updated on his travels through his Chieng Fa Travel Journal.

According to the the Travel Industry Association of America (TIA), the web is now the most popular means of booking travel. In 2005, more than a third of all transportation and more than a quarter of all hotel rooms were booked through the Internet. In both cases, the web is now the preferred method replacing telephone call centers and travel agents.

Just because people are making their travel arrangements on the web doesn't mean they're spending less. In fact, the data from the TIA survey indicates that the average spend for online bookings was US$754, excluding transportation, compared to just $406 for trips booked offline through travel agents or telephone call centers. - Travel Industry Association of America (TIA)

Like all web sites, our server stores logs some information about each page that is delivered. That information includes IP (internet protocol) addresses, browser type, referring and exit pages, time of visit, and operating system. We use this information to analyse the site by tracking user movements within the site to identify trends and demographics. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

With respect to advertising and ad servers, this site does carry ads, which are supplied by Google, as well as some other vendors.
