It’s been several weeks since I last found any deals worthy of passing on, but they’re slowly beginning to trickle in, as the shoulder season between mainland Southeast Asia’s low season and high season passes.
Le Meridien Koh Samui
Located in the more laid back yet still lively Lamai beach area of Samui, the Le Meriden consists of 63 suites and 14 villas, some with their own plunge pools. The resort’s facilities include two restaurants, a bar, Le Spa and a fitness center.
The deal: In celebration of their first anniversary, Le Meridien Koh Samui is renewing their opening offer. Rates start at 4,399++ Baht per night, including breakfast for two. You must book by 31 October 2012 and stay before 20 December 2012. Check Le Meridien web site for details on this and other offers, and booking.
Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Chiang Mai
The Mandaran Oriental Dhara Dhevi in Chiang Mai is one of the region’s most unique hotels. The design harks back to the architecture of the old Lanna kingdom of Northern Thailand, with a lot of Shan elements thrown in as well. It can seem a bit over the top, but there’s no questioning that the rooms and service are among the best you’ll find.
The deal: The “Suite Temptations Offer” is a continuing promotion where you get a free fourth night when booking a three-night stay at the best available rate. You also get a daily breakfast for two included as well as a US$50 spa voucher. See the hotel web site for full details and booking.
Four Seasons Resort, Chiang Mai
The Four Seasons Resort just outside of Chiang Mai is a little oasis of tranquility that has been attracting travelers for many years. Although just 20 to 30 minutes from the center of the city, the resort strives to achieve the atmosphere of a small village. The luxurious rooms are complemented by two pools, a cooking school, a fitness center, two restaurants and two lounges.
The deal: The resort’s “Stay Longer” package gives you a third night free when booking two nights at the best available rate. You must book before 31 October 2012. See the Four Seasons web site for full details.
W Hotel Bangkok
The new 407-room W Bangkok Hotel is set to open on 7 December 2012. The hotel is mostly housed in a new modern building constructed next to the old Soviet embassy on Sathorn Road, a fully restored colonial era classic (which will open in March 2013). The W promises an outdoor heated pool (a rarity in Bangkok), fitness center, a spa, high speed wireless Internet throughout, two restaurants and a lounge.
The deal: The “Insider Offer” opening rate starts at 5,200++ Baht per night, and SPG members get double points. You must book and stay before 31 March 2013. See the W Bangkok Special Offers page for details and booking.
