Once the home of a prince, the iconic Luang Prabang hotel, Maison Souvannaphoum, has just completed an extensive refurbishment, which came about as a result of the acquisition by Banyan Tree’s new Angsana hotel brand. The update affected all areas of the hotel, including the rooms, gardens and spa.

To celebrate, Angsana is offering a special "Maison Rediscovery" package. With a minimum stay of two nights in a Garden Wing room, you’ll get a daily breakfast for two, free transfers, free bicycle use, and more. The offer is good for booking made until 29 April 2012, for stayes until 30 April 2012.

See the Angsana web site for more information about the hotel and to make bookings.

The Ansara Hotel in Vientiane, which I noted in a post a while back, now has some ‘green season’ (marketing-speak for rainy season) special offers. The basic deal is, if you stay three nights, you only pay for two. More discounts are available for longer stays. See the Ansara Hotel web site for more details.

New Ansara Hotel in Vientiane

I just found out about a new hotel in Vientiane that sounds very promising. The Ansara Hotel has just 14 rooms, two of which are large suites, built within a compound of colonial styled buildings. Room amenities include – get this – a complimentary laptop as well as free wi-fi. Soft drinks from the mini-bar are also complimentary. Even though it’s a small hotel, Ansara has three food and beverage outlets: the Lobby Bar, the casual dining Terrace Lounge and the fine dining La Signature.

The location for Ansara is quite good. It’s close to the river and within an easy stroll to the fountain area as well. Compared to Vientiane’s only other POSH option, Setha Palace, Ansara probably has a much better location.

I’m not sure when I’ll be back in Vientiane again, but I’ll definitely be checking this place out when I do.
