A new "ultra-luxury" hotel has opened on Singapore’s Sentosa resort island. The Capella sits on 30 acres of lushly landscaped grounds. The 111 guest rooms surround two lovingly restored colonial buildings. The rooms available include a three bedroom presidential manor, 38 one and two-bedroom villas, 11 suites and 61 premium guest rooms. All rooms feature state-of-the-art technology, such as touch-screen controls, flat screen televisions, iPod docks and wireless broadband.

Other facilities include two restaurants, 12,000 square foot spa, three swimming pools, a fitness center and a fleet of Rolls-Royce Phantoms to whisk you anywhere in style.

Daily rates start at S$750 but the hotel is running an introductory offer of three nights for the price of two through the end of May. Other specials include spa experiences and tours of Singapore in the Roller.

It seems like a lot of people have at least occasional dreams of getting away from it all on some deserted tropical isle. If you’re one of them, then here’s your chance to see if the island life is for you: Nikoi is a small island near Bintan in Indonesia, about an hour’s sail from Singapore. The island is privately owned, and currently has six beach houses available, and another nine on the way on a separate beach. You can reserve the whole island if you want, or just one of the beach houses. The web site is very informative, so check it out.
