Blackberries Hiking along certain trails around Portland in late July through August has its perks. Blackberries ripening on the vine.
Lotus Lagoon Candidasa, on Bali, was one of my favorite places on the island. It's developed with several small-ish hotels and lots of restaurants, but not over-run with tourists. This lagoon (a former bay now cut off from the sea) is at the center of the northern area of the town.
Falls Creek Falls So good they named it twice. Getting to the falls requires a short hike so it's less visited than some of the other spectacular falls in the Gorge. Located in Gifford Pinchot National Forrest, north of Stevenson, Washington. Falls Creek Falls
Wat Si Chum Little visited but much photographed, the small temple of Wat Si Chum in the ancient Siamese capital of Sukhothai contains the remains of a small chapel (mondop) that barely encloses a serenely seated Buddha image. View through the ruined prayer hall to the chapel.
Tiger Lilies Among all the flowers one encounters along the trails this time of year, Tiger Lilies are my favorite. A stem full of tiger lilies.
University Falls University Falls in the Oregon Coast Range. Water cascading down a moss-covered rock face.
Wildflower Along BPA Road Every year in late June to early July, BPA Road in Portland's Forest Park is lined with wildflowers. Most of them are quite common, such as daisies and lupin, but the profusion is quite pretty. A pretty pink flower.
Darwin Arch Darwin Arch, next to Darwin Island in the Galapagos, photographed in 2015. The arch collapsed in 2021. Darwin Arch
University Falls Forest Along the hike to University Falls in the Oregon Coast Range. Sunlight filtering through the trees along a trail.
