Being somewhat provincial, Yogyakarta does not have too many hotels high-end hotels, while you're spoiled for choice in budget accommodations. However, it does have some unbelievably stunning resorts dotted around the countryside, especially near Borobodur. The most notable of these is the Amanjiwo Resort, although the somewhat remote Losari Coffee Plantation also gets high marks. Closer to town, the Sheraton Mastika took our breath away the first time we set foot in it. Sadly, it was damaged by the May 2006 earthquake and was forced to close for extensive rennovations, now complete.
